Patharkandi is a township located in Karimganj district in the Indian state of Assam. It is 350 kilometres south of the state capital Guwahati and 32 kilometres south of the district headquarters Karimganj. Approximately 90% of Patharkandi's residents are Bengalis who speak the Sylheti dialect, the rest being Bishnupriya Manipuris, Meiteis and some tribal groups like Khasis and Burmans. Patharkandi is situated by the bank of the Longai River. Patharkandi is also an important police station and the name of an Assam Legislative Assembly constituency.It is an important market place in the district. It includes prominent schools such as Central Public School, Patherkandi which is the only CBSE school in the township.
