Department Of Applied Mathematics, University of Rajshahi 3.53

The Department of Mathematics was running from 1972 with two streams: “Pure Mathematics” and “Applied Mathematics.”

In 2002 the stream of Applied Mathematics started functioning separately as an independent department with the name “Department of Applied Mathematics.”

The Department of Mathematics after then no longer can offer the B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. degrees in Applied Mathematics as per rules of the University of Rajshahi.

The Department of Applied Mathematics is situated in the ground floor (East block) of the fourth Science Building of the University Campus.

It offers courses at graduate and post graduate levels leading to B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. degrees in Applied Mathematics. There are two groups in the M.Sc. degree, one is “General Group” and the other one is “Thesis Group.” Besides, the department offers courses leading to M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees. The number of seat in the first year Honours Calss is 80 and there are about 450 students including M.Phil. and Ph.D. research students. The department has a rich seminar library and a computer laboratory. The department regularly reviews its curriculum and takes steps to boost facilities to match the present day need. It thus prepares the students to face the challenge of the coming days.
