The history of universe started with the great explosion – big bang. Earth was created after a long time .The human came on the earth . The concept of astronomy came when the ancient man looked upon on the sky and saw the infinite sky emerged with thousand- million of stars.
Man has desired to explore the vast and mysterious universe, to touch the infinite sky, to feel infinite nothing from the ancient period.
By time , great scholars like Galileo , Copernicus and Newton came and tried hard to unveiled the puzzle of great space.
In this modern era, we have succeeded to extract vast knowledge from the nothing less of sky. Man has stamped his feet on the rough surface of moon . now we are working to conquer the galaxy.
Even our sub-continent has contributed a lot to the field of astronomy. Our continent is proud of having astronomical grand masters like Aryabhatta, Radhagavinda Chandra. But as a matter of great regret modern Bangladesh has failed to keep up with the great contribution of the ancestors in astronomy. So it is high time we started the development of astronomy in Bangladesh.
The co-curricular activities of Shahjalal university Of science & Technology is enriched with a lots of cultural, sports and misc organizations but unfortunately ,as a university of science and technology even after 22 years of establishment , no astronomical society / club has yet been settled.
That’s why , with a view to expanding the concept and knowledge of astronomy in the university in Sylhet and later in whole country , here starts our journey…..
