Details

Ashru Archive is a non-profit research and resource organization. It’s being built by the family and friends to commemorate the scintillating spirit of Shahida Musa Ashru (1933-2015) who was a poet and Social worker. Her poetry was published in Mahe-Now, one of the leading literary magazines of that time in 1951. She had played a pioneer role in rural cooperative movement in 1970s and inspired many village women to become self-reliant by their works of crafts (specially Nakshikantha) in Kushtia (south-western district of Bangladesh). She received National Award for her contribution in the field of cooperative society movement in 1984.

This organization is run by a Board of Trustees. Its primary objective is to facilitate preservation of all kind of written and printed material (Books, Journals, Maps, etc.) including works of art and crafts. It will play the role of a resource center for artists, researchers, readers and interested members of the public to learn deeply about social history, culture and arts.

The archive now have the following sections:
i) A Library
ii) A Display of representatives works of art, crafts and culture
iii) A Residency facility for researcher
